Teaching new players

A simple way to introduce new players to the game is to instruct them to only collect the cards of their house and go to battle when they have five house cards. The player with the highest consecutive run or highest cards wins the battle. Once players have mastered the simplified rules you can introduce poker hands. Try playing a round open-handed to learn how each card works. If you are unsure of how to play a card look it up on Gameplay.

Game Tips

  • Winning the game requires both luck and skill. The game is based on poker and so it is advisable to play your cards close to your chest. Only reveal what is necessary.

  • A royal flush is an almost undefeatable hand, but it is also vulnerable to a disaster.

  • Whenever players go to battle be careful to note the cards that they reveal, the next card you pick up might be Betrayal.

  • Answering a disaster or reward card may not always be in your best interests. Sometimes, it is prudent to accept the forefit.

  • Go to battle wisely, rash decisions will often cost you the game.

  • If you have a poor hand consider discarding your battle cards and playing defense.

  • If you are still looking for a Love card to claim your Heir, hang on to the Ghost or try the Messenger.
